macOS reports “Service Recommended”
A service recommendation appears in the battery settings. It means the capacity has dropped below a reasonable level.
A MacBook battery wears out with use — after a few years the battery life drops and macOS reports “Service Recommended”. We replace it with a quality part, with calibration and warranty, usually within 24 hours.
When to replace
A service recommendation appears in the battery settings. It means the capacity has dropped below a reasonable level.
A MacBook that used to last all day now manages only a few hours, or switches off even with charge remaining.
The trackpad has stopped clicking, the bottom cover bulges or the laptop rocks on the desk. Stop using a swollen battery — it is a safety risk.
A battery has a limited number of charge cycles. Once exceeded, it loses capacity faster.
As soon as the charger is unplugged the MacBook switches off. The battery no longer holds any charge.
How the process works
Models we repair
We replace the battery in every generation — MacBook Air (Intel and M1, M2, M3), MacBook Pro 13", 14", 15" and 16" (Intel and Apple Silicon) and older MacBook Pro Retina. If you are not sure which model you have, bring it in — we will find out and tell you whether a replacement is worthwhile.
A MacBook battery has a set number of cycles (older models around 1000) and you can see its condition in System Settings → Battery. On Apple Silicon (M1–M3) the battery is glued and we replace the top part of the body that holds it as well — we advise whether that is worthwhile for your model.
Frequently asked questions
Usually within 24 hours of the repair being confirmed. On some models where the battery is glued it can take a little longer — we always give you a realistic date.
The price depends on the MacBook model. We tell you the exact amount after diagnostics, before the repair. Diagnostics is free if you have the repair done with us.
No. Replacing the battery does not touch the drive, so we do not delete files or the system. We do recommend a backup before any repair, though.
Yes. On these models the battery is glued and the replacement is more demanding, but we do it routinely. We tell you in advance what is realistic for your model.
Stop using the MacBook and bring it to us. A swollen battery can damage the trackpad and chassis and, in extreme cases, poses a fire risk.
We do not charge for diagnostics if we carry out the repair — even if the device cannot be repaired. If you decline the repair, diagnostics costs €39 incl. VAT.
